What's Trendy? Non-Matching Bridesmaids!

Want to mix it up at your wedding and depart from the traditional bridesmaid team uniforms?  Try letting your bridesmaids choose their own dresses! This little gesture can be a nice treat for bridesmaids, who are often forced to shell out big cash for a dress they will never wear again. Giving the ladies the option to pick out their own dresses  gives your girls the opportunity to pick one they truly love and will be able to wear again and again.

No need to fret, just because you're giving your girls more dress options doesn't mean you can't still have a lovely and coordinated wedding party. Before sending your girls out to pick their own dresses, set some ground rules for the dresses they can choose. These little rules can help ensure that you won't be regretting your decision on the big day.

For example, tell the girls that they can choose whichever dress they like, so long as it's within a certain colour palette, fabric or length. Having your girls in a variety of dresses in the same colour but different tones is also a fun way to play with your wedding colours and keep the ladies looking cohesive. As a last assurance that you'll be happy with the dresses, schedule to have a little fashion show with your ladies a week before the big day. Ask all the ladies to bring their dresses and have them all try them on and stand together, this will give you a good idea of how they will look standing with you on the big day.

By providing a few guidelines, you can be sure that the girls will all look like they're part of the wedding party, all while letting their own individual style shine through!

Interested in serving up something a little different from the traditional, tiered wedding cake on your big day? Why not surprise your guests with delectable and adorable cupcakes at the end of the meal?!

For a more traditional feel, try arranging the tasty treats on a tiered pedestal to create the look of a classic tiered wedding cake. Guests can then make their way up to the beautiful cupcake creation to select their own little sweet.

Have a few different flavors you love? Serve them all! Or for a personal touch, have both you and your partner select your favorite cupcake flavor to serve guests. If you're feeling competitive, let your guests try both flavors and then vote on their favorite!

To highlight the theme or colour scheme of your wedding, try coordinating your cupcakes with your wedding colours, or even adorn theme with a with edible sugar or chocolate sculptures that match a motif seen throughout the wedding. Having fun and being creative with your cupcake designs can be a great way to give your guests a unique treat.

What's the current trend in cocktail hour goodies? Everything mini! Why stick to the traditional assortment of cheese and vegetables when you can serve guests a snack that they'll never forget? Recreating your own favorite foods, at a third of their normal size, can be a fun way to make your special day a little more personal and a lot more unique.

The first meal that you ever ate together? A special treat that you always make on your partner's birthday? Why not miniaturize it and serve it to all your guests! Including a little note or story about how these treats are ultra special to you as a couple can make your guests feel more connected, and maybe even learn something new about you!

Another great way to use mini food to create a fun and unique event is to create a mini dessert table. Instead of serving a single type of dessert to everyone, let your guests pick and choose from a variety of mini treats after the meal. A dessert table covered in a selection of mini tarts and pies or a variety of mini cakes and other delectable treats can be a fun and tasty way to give your guests more choice at your reception.

With guests partying until the wee hours of the morning, why not serve them a delicious mini treat to keep their energy going? Tasty little snacks like miniature pancakes or grilled cheese sandwiches can be a great way to end  an amazing night. Guests will be sure to talk about their late-night mini snack for years to come.
